  • Plato has published no papers or benchmarks. The Research section of plato.so says 'Nothing published yet'.
  • CTO Pranav Putta is first author of Agent Q (arXiv 2408.07199), which uses guided MCTS, self-critique and off-policy DPO for web agents. The paper comes from MultiOn and Stanford, not from Plato.
  • Scoring runs on testcases: MUTATION mode checks database/file state changes and OUTPUT mode checks returned JSON against a schema. The docs say sessions created directly from envs= are for free-form work and cannot be evaluated.

For program managers

  • Early-stage company. The baseline Crunchbase snippet lists a pre-seed round with no disclosed amount; this was not re-verified. No institutional funding was found for plato.so. Funding stories that mention 'Plato' usually refer to the unrelated Berlin wholesale-AI company.
  • No named customers or frontier-lab relationships are verified. The NYT (Dec 2025) places Plato in the replica-website RL environment category but names no Plato customers.

Plato simulated environments (Sims) ↗
A sim is a pre-built VM image of an application, such as a CRM, Git server, wiki or Linux desktop; espocrm and ubuntu-vm are the examples given. Each sim has versioned artifacts. A session groups one or more envs so they can be reset, evaluated and torn down together, and connects them over a private WireGuard mesh at {alias}.plato.internal. The platform tracks mutations (database writes and file changes). Testcases are scored in MUTATION mode (database/file changes) or OUTPUT mode (returned JSON checked against a schema).

How we verified this

2026-10-05 refresh: I re-opened every source in the draft. The PyPI JSON confirms that v2.161.0 was uploaded on 2026-10-01 under MIT, with first release 2.0.1 on 2025-12-13. It also shows two things the draft missed or got wrong. First, the SDK carries a 'Development Status :: 4 - Beta' classifier, which contradicts the draft's claim that Plato published no beta label. Second, it requires Python >=3.11,<3.14, while the docs still say 3.10+. The docs pages confirm the VM-image sim model (espocrm, ubuntu-vm), the WireGuard session mesh, mutation tracking, MUTATION/OUTPUT scoring, that free-form sessions cannot be evaluated, and the four Computer Use tools on Ubuntu. plato.so/blog confirms the legal name and 'Nothing published yet'. The podcast page confirms Farlow as Co-Founder and CEO. The arXiv abs and HTML pages confirm Putta as first author of Agent Q, affiliated with MultiOn (with Stanford co-authors). No founder headshot could be verified, so photo_url stays blank; ycombinator.com/companies/plato is a different, acquired company.
